i think thats beyond discussion. however we have been here and some of us on the dev ml for long enough to learn, what to expect of each other and get over ourselves if need be. and we are grown enough to consider whats the best for the common effort, no matter who and what we are like. and to be precize, im not talking about anybody particularly here. just about thet people need to align and sometimes subdue a bit when working together.

I prefer being nice as it will bring you much further in life.
That is at least what I belive in. It is not like I always been that way but as I grew older I understood a few things. That said there for sure are a limit for when you stop being nice. In forums it is so easy to write bad stuff you would never say to a person face to face. Discussions are only for the good but often end up in personal attacks and that is not ok. I don't see any point talking more about Kalamatee. This is about developers we have and not about all we had.

I have my own opinions regarding NicJa/Kalamatee, but he for sure knew how to code on AROS. His social skills may be somewhat limited and sometimes what he thought was correct wasn't actually. I know the Poseidon USB system quite well and how things interact in it together but still he posted on the dev mailing list just something utterly stupid about me. This was after I had donated him a few hundred euros... It's like when he had made his mind then that's the only way for him to go and there'e no changing his mind.

AMD FX 9370, 32 Gigs Ram, Radeon RX 480.(Might be a slight overkill for AROS) :)

Again? Then just to refresh your minds: 1) he reported FALSE statements (LIES!) against AMD processors, because he wanted an Intel platform (which much more expensive compared to an equivalent AMD one); 2) he was really harsh, not polite, and making jokes against people which expressed their opinions / reported technical facts in a CIVIL manner, but with the only "fault" that the writings contrasted what he said (lese-majesty?); 3) he wanted to play with some new technologies without presenting a plan on how to use them for AROS development, and inside AROS; 4) he accused a "baker" to don't know what he talks about "making bread", with acid jokes and telling him that his statements were wrongly read from Wikipedia; 5) he disappeared just after that the "baker" presented the original receipt about "making bread", putting him back to wall. Then he completely deleted his account here. So, I agree with Olaf (unbelievable!): his behavior wasn't good and quite childish. I don't what happened to Nick; maybe he had personal problems which made him so harsh. But he wasn't professional. And the net result of what happened is, at the end, his fault.

x-vision: At least it is hell of a lot faster than acer aspire one and can emulate amiga 68k full speed running 060 demos. Other emulators runs fast too like MAME. It plays HD video, 3D support, browse the web fast and 2D speed is more than good enough. Quake III runs fast on this hardware. Do we have many demanding 3D games? IntelGMA is the best most compatible driver we have even if 3D performanse is weak, it is still good enough for most games we have.
Who are going to make new hd-audio drivers for new hardware, nic drivers, USB 3, update gfx-drivers etc? Even the drivers we have could need some love here and there. At least this is something that is working for people looking for a AROS mashine. It is also a cheap way to get a very nice Amiga like NG platform that is a laptop but can be connected to keyboards, monitors etc. as a standalone system when that is needed or prefered. I tired of stuff not working as it should etc. The way I see it AROS is very stable now on the right platform. This system does feels fast even compared to new hardware. AROS in not like Windows and even Windows is not that slugish on core2duo platform for normal tasks. What I would say is the biggest hardware upgrade that last years is the disk. Insert a SSD to any hardware and you will gain much more than some state of art CPU or RAM. As said at least a stable fully supported platform for AROS. Kind of statement platform for running AROS in a nice way. What exactly is the need for some expensive mothern platform for AROS right now? I don't see any software that needs it and I don't see AROS gain so much more interest from mothern hardware. What I see is that ACER aspire one is to weak and this DELL laptop is not. I don't say it would be wrong but I enjoy what we have and this computer is a blessing that brings lot's of joy to me and will probably to many others too.

perhaps the most important thing is to realize that we have very varying motivations and opinions that only partly overleap. as this is open source, we can take advantage of this common denominator. but i dont expect tring to impose opinions or delegate the work across these gaps where we disagree onto each other will gain us anything but fruitless arguing and even more trouble.

Sure people might have different visions. Most devs. in AROS world do what they like to implement, or what they think are interesting to work on. With little money I guess that is at least a good motivation. What I made developers do or wanted I think benefit many. Mostly I'm just reporting bugs or missing features. I'm not sure I understand the Intel part you talk about? Yes, I like Intel more than AMD? I also like to see a reference hardware like ACER aspire one 110, 150. We need some proof of consept hardware people can buy that works. The never ending problem with different hardware drivers will never be solved in AROS land, but at least we can run AROS hosted or in wm player. People simply have little time to mess around with all the tweeking to get AROS up and working as a normal good system. My plan is to bring some more mothern laptop than ACER aspire one 110 to that reference standard. ACER aspire one never was a powerhouse and quite outdated by todays standards. What I can do is to build some AROS version where everything is set up to that computer and all software with it will be well tested and working good. There are so much software on AROS that are not well tested and buggy as hell. This laptop is not something I plan to sell but a model that can be found on lets say e-bay for cheap money. What I mean about plan is that if someone absolutly don't like to do anything themself. I could buy it and set it up for them. What I offer is a download of that version or you can buy a usb-stick from me. I will make videos of how to set up, use and configure the hardware and the system. I also like to find Amiga key stickers to stick over the windows keys and maybe other cool stickers to make that laptop Amiga like. For someone interested. This is a powerhouse and fully supported by AROS with some small tweaks. AROS runs much faster on this laptop than lets say windows. You can also connect this laptop with vga out to a TV or monitor. https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-latitude-d520/specs/ A quick search on e-bay and there are lot's for sale.
