Could this error message dialog be extended to provide a third button as option for opening another dialog to make the missing assign to a directory, the user can choose in the new dialog?

I think I've seen such an option in AmigaOS3.9 a long time ago...

Oh... that would be cool

I will assign etc: and add it to user-startup?

Could you fill inn the line for me. Do I need to
direct this to every program or game I get this message or could it be a global thing?

assign etc: ??

Mazze: Another strange thing is that when I open GraphX2 it get the message "No joystick in port 0" or something like that.

The game Pushover give me stack overflow. I increased the stack size in icon but did not help.

The etc requester often happens if I build an SDL app with the -nix option. So I try to avoid it whenever possible. (Yeah, probably that timidity path in the mixer.)

SDL_SetError messages like 'No joystick' show up if I build an SDL app with the default version of lib SDL (which has DEBUG_ERROR defined). And as you can see, the errors are usually more of a warning than a serious error.

Just created user-startup in S:
Assign etc: ENV:

Ok but thats not really what I meant ;D

The application in question should try PROGDIR: to find the file, and then check ENV: itself directly (imho)

The error is likely coming from sdl_mixer when it tries to open /etc/timidity.cfg. An assign let's the error disappear.

It should probably look in ENV: on AmigaOS like systems, for that file, (after PROGDIR:).

I almost never use a CD either: it was a CD image in VBox

The problem will probably go away if you install dev tools. However, these games should run without having to install dev tools, so that's just a workaround.
