now, i have that "finder"
http://archives.aros-exec.org/share/utility/filetool/finder.i386-aros.zip that has been mentioned here as an alternative replacement for "find" compiling within the current aros toolchain and slightly tested. the question is, should i include it in contribs or ports? the source is small, so i wouldnt fetch it externally.

Error is coming from this line:
https://trac.aros.org/trac/browser/AROS/trunk/AROS/workbench/system/find/findgroup_class.c#L128 When doing content search Find loads the whole file into one memory block, so if the file is larger than the remaining memory it displays the error. What I can do is to change the content search such that is loads several blocks.

what concerns finder i slightly updated makefiles to the current aros status and can compile it with aros toolchain. however it crashes within MUIA_Window_Menustrip, FinderV3GUI.c line 224:
[KRN] Trap signal 11, SysBase b02151e0, KernelBase b0215f44
commenting out menus in that line the application starts and works as expected i guess. without access to the menus of course, cant tell how to fix it for now.

I'm the author of the Find utility. What error messages do you get?

ill have a look at it. maybe it could be added to ports as well, as an option, or even replace the find program, if it is considered broken..

I have written some scripts with wich i find and manage files.
This is the best approach for me. The utility linked above works well and is sufficient from gui.

i just confirmed that it basically works as expected. it feels a bit clumsy, thats given, but im not in a position to implement any improvements. im busy enough since days trying to find out why sdl on 68k doesnt correctly detect the sound format and crashes.
