Yes, it's possible the driver doesn't work well with that chipset (I don't have time right now to check if any of the cards the driver has been tested with have that chipset), but it's also possible that the BIOS isn't playing well with it (either intentionally or accidentally) simply because it isn't the factory-fitted card.

Um... Well I just looked at the label for the BXB6 in the docs. The one I tested was out of a macbook. I don't know if that makes a huge difference (and no I wasn't testing it in a mac).

Does the driver open for the Bluestork? If not, it could be just that the driver doesn't recognise the USB IDs. Do you know the IDs?

As others have said, it may just be that the cards are not initialised properly by the BIOS since they are not expected to be there, so please don't mark these chipsets as non-working based on this report.

The specific one is Netgear WG111v3 - look for one cheap on ebay.
Cheers, Nigel.

I tried what should have been a comptable Atheros card in a laptop and a netbook, with it working in neither probaly due to the bios not initialising it properly. That's why I stick with the Netgear USB WiFi dongle - not as neat a solution but it works and works well. Cheers, Nigel.

Yeah that never listed anything.
I'm almost curious if the wifi chip is blocked in the bios or isn't compatible with the laptop somehow.... Hmmm.
