Nope. If you're looking forward to any demos or games from me, then you're going to be in for a huge disappointment! :)

I have absolutely zero creative or artistic talent. I can kinda draw stick people, but my finished drawing doesn't really look like stick people, so I'm not sure that really counts.

I'll take that back. I'm going to convert the text game Elite (http://aminet.net/package/game/text/text-elite.i386-aros) from C to Pascal. I enjoy simple strategy games, even text versions. So that will be a fun way to get my feet wet.

My hacking/coding passions are:
- Figuring out how something works (isn't that true for all of us)?

- Tools and Utilities
Either CLI or GUI, it depends on the utility, what it does, and who the audience it. However, I'm not a fan of GUI "front ends" in general, such as ZuneARC. I'm more a fan of writing the code/classes that can then be used in both a CLI utility an a GUI utility. And then I'll likely build the CLI and let someone more creative build a GUI app. :)

- Architecture / backend / services
I like designing and building something that other people or services can use or consume that makes their job easier or provides a service that they were wanting.

Someday in the future, but not anytime soon, I can see being a contributor to areas like shell or workbench. I don't see myself getting into the core of the OS and drivers, except maybe as a learning exercise. Knowing full well that I'm probably going to break something that I can fix, so I'll be sure to have a backup before I start! :D

This is great. I'm looking forward to learning from your experiences.

I also think AROS in its current state provides a great opportunity to contribute to something really cool.

I've decided to start a blog about exploring and hacking on AROS as well as learning how to code for it. I'm just getting my feet wet and this is very early still. Hopefully my blog will be beneficial to someone.

I do believe getting started with AROS is a bit confusing, particularly for someone unfamiliar with Amiga. There is a ton of information available online. But a lot of it is either contradictory or "Sure, you can do that. But do you have this or that, are you running a or b or c, do you want it to be transparent or start it manually, and... wait, what do you mean you don't know to use an Amiga?"

Perhaps we can bring some calm to the chaos.
