Software : New release of PortablE aimed at beginners
|
| Posted by PortablE On 2011/2/7 14:55:29 (729 reads) |
|
I am releasing a "full preview" of the next version of the PortablE programming language. It is now aimed at beginners & those new to the E language. Previous releases of PortablE were aimed at existing AmigaE users, and those familiar with AmigaOS programming. But after more than a year of development, PortablE is much easier for beginners to pick-up & play with:
* It now comes with some nice modules for graphics, sound, music & GUIs. These require no knowledge of AmigaOS programming, and were inspired by the simplicity of BASIC languages like AMOS.
* It comes with full documentation for all of these modules, along with smaller & bigger examples. The preview release does not include these examples, but instead I will be show-casing one of these examples every few days. Keep an eye on the new official PortablE forum for them!
* The documentation has been revamped to be more beginner friendly, and the PortablE installer has been made easier to use. If you still get stuck, then let me know, and I will see what I can do
* In addition to that, I have made available a large collection of my own useful modules (in the CSH folder), which you can use if you want. These are not properly documented yet, but I will look at documenting them where there is interest.
* There are also various other improvements, and a lot of bug fixes.
* As usual it supports Amiga OS4, OS3, AROS, MorphOS & Windows. However (1) the new graphics module does not yet work on Amiga OS3, (2) the new modules do not yet work on Windows, and (3) MorphOS support is still experimental.
You can download it from PortablE's home page. But remember to keep an eye on the official PortablE forum for further info.

AMC v1.22 has been finally released!
Quote: AMC is the ultimate Media Center application for AROS, AmigaOS(tm) and MorphOS, with this tool you will be able to navigate and organize all your media: musics, videos and pictures will be at your fingers tips.
With AMC it's easy to manage your picture albums, it's easy to manage your videos and it's easy to manage all your songs. The controls are optimized for remote controllers but you can easily change the key bindings. AMC integrates searching functions and removable mass-storage device autodetection, it's easy to browse your USB drives and copy its content in your computer. AMC is a commercial project and a single license is priced only 29.95?, actually available for AROS and AmigaOS4.x, and soon for MorphOS.
Thanks to the Amiga community and the feedback received from many users the software is progressing fast, a special thanks goes to Samo79 that has helped me alot with this new version.

the thumbnail grid will be filled with the selected playlist contents.

AROS : Patch fixes installation of Icaros 1.2.5 and adds new features
|
| Posted by paolone On 2010/12/9 16:45:22 (1224 reads) |

A little (22 KB) patch has been released on the Icaros Desktop website. It fixes installation of Icaros Desktop Live! from USB pendrives and add to both versions of the distribution (Light and Live!) two new features: a fancy new Zune theme that enhances the look of most applications, and the ability to create thumbnail icons for image files, which slightly improves handling pictures with Wanderer. This patch needs a working installation of Icaros Desktop 1.2.5. More informations and a screenshot on the Icaros Website:
