Sometimes using plugins gives you some technical advantages.
But in general datatypes are fine for the beginning.

If you don't port the plugins you need to verify that using the datatypes works.

Firstly, any web browser should be using the datatypes, not custom plugins... in fact it should be a design guideline that all programs must use datatypes and not any other system.

I would hope that all programs would use Zune as well

Hi Kalamatee,

SSL is not required for this bounty.
AWEB of course supports SSL through tools like AmiSSL or Miami,...

Actually I hope porting AWEB should not be difficult.
It seems to be quite portable as it compiles on Classic OS3.x, OS4.0 and MorphOS.

The missing link to AROS is currently classaction.
Maybe blessing Aweb with a new Zune Gui is the best way to go?
A simple Gui only having the basic features should do it for a start.

Cheers

If I might ask a question.

How did Amiga get into such a state with all these toolkits? There just seem to be a lot of them and I have no idea why.

I would vote for using Zune. Just my vote.

Description: Fast Port of AWEB APL LITE to AROS
Objective: Getting the free web browser Aweb
APL lite (http://aweb.sunsite.dk/) to run on Aros.

The goal is reached when you are able to surf with Aweb running on Aros.

The current obstacle in porting Aweb is that Aweb is based on classaction. To port Aweb you could either port the needed parts of classaction or give Aweb a new Zune interface. If you decide to give it a Zune interface than the interface only needs to have the basic features to surf.

To complete the port Aweb needs to have a browser window with at least an URL line, stop, back, forward, and reload button. The html renderer and the javascript library needs to work. You should be able to visit www.aros.org and see the site correctly.

Optional parts which are not needed to complete this first port are
- The user preference programs
- The Aweb plugins ( jpg/gif/png )

If you don't port the plugins you need to verify that using the datatypes works.
- Arexx interface
