Melott,
I don't have very clear answers for you, and for that I am sorry. 64megs should be enough to run Aros, however if you have some laying around, why not install it. 400 megs should be enough, I don't see why not. The smallest I ever installed on is a 1.9gig. |

I only have 64 megs ram in it now but can install
more (I have the chips) if needed. What is recommended for ram ?? Also the HD is only 400 megs, is that enough ?? I can stick a 6 gig drive in if needed.

@JetFireDX
I have instructions that I wrote down when I did it. They are at home right now, I am at work. I will post them as soon as I can. Should be this evening. Are you using Aros-Max or one of the nightly builds? FYI - This will take over an entire HD and the HD must be on the PrimaryIDE Channel as Master. The devs are working on a completly new install and hopefully this limitation should be gone by then. @melott Erros from the CD doesn't sound right to me. Have you tried re-burning? Does the HD require a special format?? - Yes AFFS Is there a HD tools for that ?? Yes, some GUI some command prompt. (the actual formating of the HD is command line) Is there any other info I need?? See the FYI above. That is all I can think of... |

I have an AROS boot disk from 9/13/03
Will that work?? I'm getting alot of errors from the CD, this CD drive may not be to reliable. If its the drive, I'll change it. The CD disk is good, it loads fine on my other PC.

I'd be interested in seeing exactly (and I mean step 1. Click this. Step 2. Do that..) how to set up an AROS partition through AROS hdtoolbox. No matter what I would try I couldn't get it to set up correctly. It would be sweet to have AROS fully installed on my currently unused AthlonXP2500+ box in the closet.

Yes, Aros-Max can be installed to HD. It really isn't too hard but you need to be booted into Aros first. If your computer can boot from Floppy download the floppy image from the Aros.org website [url=http://www.aros.org/download.php].
If you boot from the floppy leave the CD in the CD-rom and it should show up in Aros after boot. I can tell you how I went about installing it. Let me know if you can get this far.... The strangest part of installing Aros to HD is doing the partition. CoolCat has some scripts that work fine for the rest. Dave |

I've D/Led Aros-Max.
I've put together a 200 mhz PC for Aros. This MoBo doesn't seem to like booting from the CD. This has probably been asked before... Can Aros-Max be installed and boot from HD ?? If so, what do I need to do?? This PC is only for Aros, it won't be running any other dos.
