I have problems trying to format disk AHCI/SATA.
I get the message. Partitioning of disk failed. installaros will now quit. CON: Could not open root partition! Error 100 First of all I'm pretty sure my ACER Aspire One 110 don't have support for AHCI. It is nothing in BIOS to run IDE or AHCI mode. The same problem I have with my Toshiba satellite a200. Other Acer aspire one I have does have AHCI and it is enabled for XP. The problem with that netbook is that AROS does not boot on it. I get insert bootable media after selection display mode.

Great! I was collecting the pieces of a old computer I used as main workstation (Core 2 Duo on an Abit ip35 motherboard) to build a new, more powerful AROS machine, and since it uses a Intel chipset with AHCI mode I will be glad to do some testing.
(I could also use my netbook, ok, but I'm quite afraid to loose its Windows partition. Not that I used it so much in the last 2 years, but it can always be useful)

Finally got a chance to complete AHCI support again.
NOTE: This is only for Intel AHCI and compatible devices. Most 3rd party SATA cards these days use the Silicon Image chipset, which is *not* AHCI - this driver does not support the Silicon Image chipsets. AHCI support is now in both the AROS ABIv0 and ABIv1 lines, and should be in the nightly builds by Thursday. So far it has only been tested in QEMU, so this is a call for testing on a wider range. NOTE: BACK UP! EXPECT THIS DRIVER TO EAT ALL YOUR DATA! THIS IS NOT AN IDLE THREAT! From the AROS nightly, you will need to edit the grub command line and add 'ahci' to enable AHCI support. Without the extra 'ahci' option, ata.device will put the AHCI devices in ATA emulation, as usual. NOTE: IF YOU USE THE 'ahci' OPTION, EXPECT ALL YOUR DATA TO MAGICALLY VANISH! In InstallAROS, you will need to select 'AHCI/SATA' from the drop-down, or force driver selection to 'ahci.device' by typing in the driver name in the provided text field . Grub installation should work just fine (at least, it did under QEMU). Have fun, and let me know in this thread what you find out from your testing! NOTE: DIE DATA DIE!
