Welcome!

Indeed, laptops are not AROS's strong point, it takes that perfect combination of hardware chip sets, and even then it might be a bit trying as any video chipset aside of that Nvidei 9800Gt+, seems to be plagued with one issue or another, at least in hardware mode.
If you don't need the likes of Gl and are content with Vesa, then not having that video card isn't as much of a deal breaker. There's still plenty to do in Vesa.

One thing is for sure, putting AROS on a Lenovo will save you from dealing with a little malware and a lot of their self installed adverts. :)

Hi,

Welcome to AROS.

Laptops are tricky things to get supported, especially newer ones. Support is nowhere near the levels of Linux in native but better hosted on top of Linux a lot like Android.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Complete_System_HCL

but of course, it depends on what you want to do with the OS.

Jeff.

hi 77slevin,

Thank you for registering and introducing yourself. And of course A very welcome to these forums.

You're not alone with being an old time amiga user, who walks into AROS in these day and age

Be sure to check out my sig links, especially the manual (also available in case you installed icaros). Most if not all applies to AROS in generic).

Have fun, and feel free to ask for help in case you get stuck, although i believe you may feel right at home

Hi,

I'm a 43 year old male from Belgium, who has just discovered the Aros project. I was an Amiga die hard during Commodore's golden years, I had the "No Intel Inside" wallpaper and everything . Funny enough I'm now contemplating buying a Lenovo laptop (Bay Trail-M Celeron) just to install Aros on it. Will need tons of help getting it all up and running, because I'm a bit rusty on my Workbench knowledge (after 20 years of Windows and Mac OS X use)
