Still accepting donations and no developer has been assigned to it.

I fully support this idea. Ability to run AROS (or it's parts) on ARM cores would be a very good idea. This Big-Endian (Bi-Endian actually ;)) fast RISC processors rule the embedded world.

I could imagine there are plenty of applications, where such small open source OS like AROS (with it's footprint smaller than linux ones, with it's fast thread-like tasks and processes) could be used

Thumb up!

Could it mean that an MorphOS/Amiga OS 4 aproach towards 3.* apps could be used?

A native AROS version might be very good then, i bet arms batery would become AROS best friend in a hurry!

I personally think that an AROS port to ARM is a terrific idea. (gp2x)

I actually think that a maintained port of AROS to any other architecture would be an excellent idea assuming that it didn't divert effort from the continued development on i386.

I guess we just have to keep chucking money at the bounty untill someone bites and hope that the person who does wouldn't do more for AROS by working on i386.

Comments welcomed.

Clockless CPU? Seems that the ARM9 Core will be the first commercial clockless CPU. Which means greater power savings when the CPU is not active.

Native would be the next phase (or next multiple phases, depending on what needs to be done in workable chunks) of this ARM porting after hosted version is done. After Michal is finished with the x86_64 port, it should making port a whole lot easier to other archs with his back ports to AROS-x86.

Unlike the other OSs in our Amiga Community, AROS is not arch centric for business purposes. AROS can make strategic porting to those arch that gives AROS the biggest bang for the buck allowing AROS to reach out to the vast majority of the world. Having said that, I think most of the Devs would still love to see back porting to 68K. Homage and all that. :)

That would be neat, since GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, GP32 and GP2X all use ARM CPUs.

Come to think og it, GP2X might be able to run it hosted.
