I for sure understand people had some question regarding the need, or demand Kalamatee had for hardware. It was not exactly what most people have. At least not if the are in need of money. Many in the community begged him to stay. Should it be like a few people that was mostly not even what I consider part of the community have that big voice?

With all respect to Kalamatee and how he felt it was a little hash to the people that stood up for him and tried to help.
In the end we even had a solution.

If you realy like to support AROS development I would suggest you give a little to Neil Cafferkey.
He never demand anything and is very nice to the community + he is a hell of a good developer. The best we have as far as I know.

As for you, you?ve many times yourself demanded developers follow your vision because you thought it was the future. I?d gladly post links to your we need intel only threads.

AMD FX 9370, 32 Gigs Ram, Radeon RX 480.(Might be a slight overkill for AROS) :)

Other than that his reaction would not have been explainable... he even asked to be deleted in this forum. For me that is child level to be honest, but I do not know the personal situation of him, perhaps he has private problems, obviously he always was short of money and that can drag down emotionally of course.

You are correct you don?t know his situation so you?re guessing based on what you think the situation is/was. However here?s the outcome we lost a long time developer and replaced him with a bag of hot air.

I'm still working away on SirTootsalot a Mastodon open-source social media client for AROS as my first targeted Amiga platform. I have many of the basics in place for textual posts and I will probably have lots more lame questions about MUI and Zune before I make a release (no schedule and no f***s given).

I plan to provide a more lengthy update toward the end of the month when I have a little more time.

OlafS3: We kind of agree. I'm not so sure about the part when you say "lame excuse"
I know Kalamtee is a proud man and felt let down. It is not that nice talking to much about someone not part of the conversation. We can assume as much we want.
For now he is not here but might come back. It is far from the first time he left.
For now we continue to use, promte, support and develop AROS with what we have.
The worst thing that can happen is if there are no more interest in AROS.
We can talk about developers but we for sure need more users and people interested in the project.
I have a plan that might atract more people on the way.
I'm not a developer but everyone can contribute. Make videos, screenshots, support developers, make manuals, find developers etc. etc.

That looks to me like a lame excuse. I assume he was unhappy already because people did pay him the hardware he requested and thought he would deserve. Pascal offered him hardware for free (i7) but it seems it was not good enough to him. Then the famous discussion started and escalated. Then he suddenly dropped everything and left from one moment to another. That looks like he wanted to go anyway, was no longer motivated and used only the chance to go.

Do you know the expression "the drop that fills the glass"?
That was what kalamatee felt: You spend many hours of your life working for a community, a community that BARELY test your work, even less render thanks for it, and even less support you when you need moeny or hardware (I know Paolo offered hardware, but even it was good, it was not good enough for developing) . And the story repeats year after year...

How would you feel?
