Ones I do that...I may actually believe in my heart I have a very powerful x86 Amiga machine hahahahah :D Of course...when I buy this case..it will be black colored and the power LED will be blue and the HDD LED will be white. A very nice contrast colors for the LED. It will include the nice fancy DVD player (blue ray is an over kill for icaros/aros in my opinion) it will have all those card/cf reader like this picture. If I can put anything on the right side of the case it will be USB ports...just USB ports which then can be used for joystick, camera and any USB devices. Internally, it will have gaming video card that is compatible and functioning with icaros/aros. If the video card can also have composite, s-video, vga port that will be all pluses for me.

The HDD will be 100% SSD and that will be like 40 GB or 20 GB just for the icaros/aros installation and another HD which will be normal mechanical drive...I have not decided if it will be 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM though and that will hold all the media devices such as: Movies, MP3, games, etc. The amount of RAM intended will the maximum amount of how much icaros/aros can see and nothing else. If it can see 8 GB then it will have 8 GB, if it can only see 4 GB of RAM then it will have 4 GB of RAM and if it can see 12 GB of RAM so be it..it will have 12 GB of RAM.

Just remember though that there's differences in what a person should be looking for when trying to attain a machine that performs well with AROS than a more mainstream system, especially when it comes to x86 (as is icaros).

Two to three GHz is at best midspec. More than 4gig isn't used, but having said that its worth using 2 or 3 2 or 4 gig sticks so as to be able to use dual/triple channel ram. RAM speed and timings are also important.
Only 1 CPU core is used, but a 4, 6 or 8 core CPU will be faster, due to larger caches, especially for Intel, where all caches are shared (not the case for amd, where only l3 cache is shared, and only sometimes, plus l3 caches give least benefit).
Video card wise clock rates for GPU, shaders and vram, along with bus width are more important than things like core count, shader volume, etc.
Core logic and I/o support chips can also influence things pretty heavily.

So there you have it, and impromptu, vague guide as to what constitutes a high performance AROS machine. :)

Then he is doing fine with his approach...me....I want both portable and power. So I take from both world, the laptop not as powerful as said desktop for portability and desktop version to exploit icaros to the maximum level and make a good multimedia machine :)

The op already says he's after something light and ultra portable.

Can't carry a desktop around to coffee houses and pubs, etc.

If you do not have an aros laptop then by all means find the best one and get it. Now I am going to put my input in this matter, I still find the specs of that laptop is lowend and you may not enjoy icaros/aros completely as it slowly grows better, bigger, more features, etc. My advice, get a laptop for portability reason (anyone who owns icaros/aros must have a laptop...and I am saying MUST). However, you must also get a highend desktop icaros/aros machine for the highend activity and those are dirty cheap...a 150 to 250 bucks is nothing for a dual processor running at 2 to 3ghz with 8 GB of RAM and a video gaming card....it is cheaper than my PlayStation 4.

So to summarize, anybody who wish to own or use icaros/aros must have a low end laptop and high end desktop icaros/aros machine for the full experience. That is what I am intending myself in the future to get.

If not mistaken then that machine could be a bit of a hit and miss concerning networking though. Only one way to find out
