sorry to invade this thread but i cant save network settings on aros68k (last nightly, but its been like that some time). winuae guys probably dont notice as winuae has an inbuilt stack, but im testing aros on a real machine (currently with the x-surf card)

Ok, scout :) Yes, both wireless manager and arostcp get 40000 stack automatic so it is not the problem then. My conclusion right now must be that if Start networking during system boot is ticked, it might triger something bad.

In fact, your earlier tests suggested setting the stack to 40000 when running WirelessManager manually made no difference. Did you get different results with later testing? Before I change anything permanently, it's important to know what the default stack is for these programs when run automatically. In Icaros it's around 40000; is it the same for AspireOS? (See Scout's task window. Sorry, I said Snoopy accidentally last time.)

Kalamatee: yepp you are right. I did some more testing today. Setting stack before running startnet (AROSTCP) does not help. Setting stack to 40000 before running wireless manager is what keeps the connection stable.
Neil: Could you set this as default when running wireless manager please ?

Neil: I have one idea of what it could be. I have several computers, tv-box, ps3 etc. on my wi-fi network. Could it be that if the line is being used by other devices it could cause AROS wi-fi connection to crash ?

Hmm, what if we give AROSTCP a smaller stack:
Stack 40000 startnet What stack size do AROSTCP and WirelessManager get when run automatically? (See Snoopy's Tasks window for free stack.)

Neil: That also seams to run very stable. Had no disconnection yet. Downloaded night build 3 times and tried to push the line without any problems yet.

Strange. To make the manual environment more like the normal one, try starting WirelessManager like this instead (no verbose):
Stack 40000 C:WirelessManager atheros5000.device

Neil: If I run it like you say the connection is yet to disconnect :) I tried to download the night build a couple of times without problems. At once I ticked the box for starting network at boot I got disconnected again downloading night build. How is this possible ? is it just a coincidence ? I will for sure try more the next days.
