Have you tried setting a VESA mode of 1280x1024? In Icaros 1.5.1, this can be done by entering this resolution in Boot Prefs. Otherwise, you can edit the text file SYS:boot/grub/grub.cfg and set vesa=1024x768.

yes. I figured that out on the evening. Tried the grub.cfg editing (more handy). didn't need a "grub update" that's nice :)

what's not cool is that I just have ONE res available in screenmode app. should this be possible to get all the res possible ? even all the res possible with all the devides I would like to have in the screenmode list ? do I have to just put the xxx.device inside devs/screenmodes drawer ?

Hello matey,

That's due to low_playback_buffer_size and mp3player is not maintained anymore but HarmonyPlayer is

sorry for delayed answers, i made a try with W7 + winuae on the same machine I have aros installed. I took me time, and even if winuae works really well, i didn't take as fun as I get on aros (between 2 crashes).

800*600 vesa mode work. unfortunately, i would have liked to get a better res, as my gfx card that is a Intel GMA 945 + my screen can get to 1280*1024.

i have a lot of tests to make with janus uae. for the first ones i made, the aspect of the screen on demos seems better, but the emulation is a bit slower, and sounds have more cracks.

thanx,

Or, to sum up: yet another report of Janus-UAE not working very well with native drivers (Nouveau, in this case).

I wonder why running Janus in VESA mode makes it more compatible and more stable.

Oan3, can you run AROS and Janus in VESA mode, and see if something gets better?

yes, i know that my explanation isn't clear enough.

will try to enhance my words :

1) i configured the 68k environement with amiga forever
2) i used amibridge pref program to choose "coherence" mode
3) i launch the env and get the "you can now launch 68k programs"
4) when i clic on the janus-uae window in the dock, i get the screen title "workbench", when i clic on the desktop, i get back "wanderer"
5) when i try to launch an amigaos app from the dock (for example the clock program in System/Tools) i get an error related to the path that is not accessible by the janus uae side
6) the same for programs that are inside the work directory (used as work: by janus-uae side)
7) as i'm using 2 partitions 1 for AROS: and 1 for WORK: on the AROS side, i presumed that there is a problem between the "real" work: and the janus-uae one. I had a look in the amigaos.uaerc.conf (i'm used to that cause i have an hosted amiga os on a linux machine) and made the janus-uae work: drive mounted from the right drawer (the one containing extra programs from amiga forever cd).
8) still the same problem, and somewhere, i'm not that surprised because the path when i double clic on a 68k app icon is not relative to the amiga os side but to the aros side...
9) when i double clic on eagleplayer it crashed (recoverable alert but that freezes the whole comp')

so "it is crashing everytime" and i prefer to launch apps from a dedicated window cause when i do that, apps are launched from/to janus uae part.

or have I missed something in the understanding of janus uae integration ?

is there a documentation somewhere that i can read? i'm nothing without a doc, i'm a network/system administrator, "man" is my friend !

is it better now ?

This should not happen ;). But "crashes all the time" is no useable bug report.

Btw, while running j-uae you can open the GUI with ctrl-alt-j and switch between full integration and windowed mode at any time, if you use the same resolution of course.

hello,

it's general issues, and i'll try to make it more precise but there are 2 stuffs that really work badly on my AROS.

- mp3player sound is clicking when I use Wanderer to copy/move files (256Kb/s mp3 files, on 7200rpm SATA HD)
I didn't try with cp command, but mv seems to work much better.

- janus-uae integration is crashing all the time when using "standard integration", so I prefer to use workbench in a dedicated window and launch programs directly inside the janus uae window.

description of my comp is inside my signature.

have to go for lunch now,
cheers,
