I think that IDE isn't the problem because the DVD-Rom "reads" and then reboots.
The chipset on my machine is a SIS 735 with Onboard sound I'll try booting with no USB devices

I don't think Reject's problem is IDE related... I remember seeing a similar issue on one of the machines I used to test AROS on...
I think the problem is related to some weird chipset configuration.

Hi cecilia,
Yeah theres issues with aros booting thats for sure. The IDE issue is one problem, but not the only one. Not come across the USB issue before, but i know from bloods experience that for some reason AROS doesnt detect bootable media. I could explain it a bit further as to what its not doing but it wont help much =( - however it is being looked into AFAIK. Have you tried the following? > Try to boot using the boot floppy image. Check what AROS can see - you hardisk, etc and post the reply back here. it will certainly help in getting your (and bloods) issue resolved and hopefully system going ;)

I think I have Grub (but it's been a year since I put it on and I forgot now).

The first thing you need to disconnect is any USB device. Go into your BIOS and disable USB. If you do not unplug (not turn off), then your system will pick up the device and re-enable USB.
I was the same. I could not boot at all until I worked this little puzzle out. I found the best way to run AROS was to do it through Virtual PC. It works fine. Does anyone use AROS on the Mac version of Virtual PC?

As you have perhap's read, they are some difficulties for AROS to boot on some peculiar IDE configurations or when other bootloaders are present on drives.
Try to unplug other drives. Or switch them. |
