I am excited about this, really. It has to be great for all the people who work on Aros to see some "offical" recognition for all their hard work.

AHT was really kind of vague about what they are going to do... If I have read correctly they have supplied boards to at least a few of the devs. They have said somehting about supporting bounties and such but so far that seems to have just been talk.....

Personally I hope to be able to buy one someday, running Aros of course.

Go to their website (www.ahteurope.com), click on 'products' at the top, then 'set top boxes' - they look like nice little low(er) power boards.

So does this mean it's gonna be AHT's fault when my NTL cable box falls over?

Linux PPC Hosted = LPH
Set Top Box = STB
As Soon As Possible = ASAP

Great news, and hopefully a driving force to get AROS to PPC and hence Mac/A1/Pegasos/Classic PPC :)

No, you don't.

We're in touch with several AROS developers already. Once they'll have chosen the first ones from within their rows who would like to get their hands on developer boxes, the first ones will be shipped.

Further support for AROS is planned. A draft of our ideas for a possible future development:

- financial support by AHT Europe for selected Bounties
- support of the Linux-PPC-hosted (LPH) version of AROS and adaptation to our STB
- bundling of the LPH with our STBs as a bonus a.s.a.p.
- x Euro for each of these STBs sold as a kind of "voluntary licence fee" for supporting the AROS development
- in the mid- till long-term a native version for our STB
- in the mid- till long-term possibly an "AHT distribution"

Of course we are perfectly aware that AROS (here especially: the LPH version) isn't ready for productive use yet. So our plans regarding AROS are rather aiming at the mid- and long-term future. Anyway we want to add the LPH as a kind of bonus to each ARIANA STB a.s.a.p. to promote the OS also by this way.

A discussion about further possibilities for mutual benefit is very welcome.
