My AROS system is now dual-booting Icaros native and Icaros hosted. I have Icaros talking to the linux host (shutdown, reboot, suspend) and now I have a script that keeps the X resolution synchronised with AROS by watching the screenmode.prefs file.

What I'm wondering is if anyone can suggest how to make AROS mount a host ram disk as its own ram disk. This way the host would be able to act on the AROS environment vars and possibly share the space with a 68k guest?

It appears that the RAM Disk isn't mounted from the mountlist file, and is somewhere before the startup-sequence which is currently unknown mystic lands to me.

I have linux hosted running already. Wondered what if, instead of running linux hosted on top of mt existing linux file system I created a partition dedicated to hosted icaros and then setup a boot manager to boot straight into it if we wanted :)

Running aros inside a VM or, hosted under Linux or Windows are two separate things.

It is fairly easy to integrated icaros into a hosted AROS setup but, it does require some manual labour.

My guess would be that Paolone wants to automate the process.

So it will be a have your cake and eat it too ICAROS? You could install to a dedicated partiton and boot native if needed but then also run it under Linux?

I did that one time with windows, opened the windows partition raw in vmware, just had to create two different hardware profiles in windows.

Good point. So it looks like the menu bar is showing the available "chip" mem by default.

To change the display to available "fast" ram:
Settings > Environment > Miscellaneous
Under Custom Screen Title change the %fcS to %ffS
