Interesting. You should do tests with a light linux distro, to make comparaisons too ;)

As an update to this and to be absolutely factual. I finally downloaded a full 1920x1080p video file and this Atom did not quite have enough to play smoothly. Video chip seemed to cope admirably but cpu was on 90-100% all time and was jerky skipping I guess 30% of frames, but still watchable for testing. However, for full 1080p you need the skt775 board and a full fat processor. 1280x720 movies run beautifully.

iMica running dual booting Windows 7

This link is a small video clip to show what the iMica Atom system is capable of as it stands now. I have mine set to dual boot with Windows 7 and that OS uses dual cpu and has good video drivers.

This is to answer questions of is the Atom base unit powerful enough to run HD movies and other applications. Remember we have a skt775 coming once NIC is tested but this will make more noise and use more power. So if you want a nice experience and play up to 1920x1080p then the base unit will do it once Aros supports dual core and Intel graphics drivers.

This is not to sell units, because I am happy to tell you how to build your own, just not to underestimate the Atom for Aros.

I am not saying that you should not build a faster unit but I see people saying they want high performance and low noise and low power consumption. Well Atom will give both and the Intel graphics chipset is everywhere and so to support it would be a great idea.

Running IcAros on iMica Atom

Coming soon, Linux performance test.

Steve
