Yes, when .bz2 then first "bzip2 -d". Then, "tar -xvf" if the file issued is a .tar. (you could "tar -xjvf" directly on some systems) AROS-Max torrent contains a .rar file (Windows world, I presume), then you have to "unrar -x" this file. (I will add md5sum and other useful information on the tracker page asap. And another thing this tracker doesn't is to hold the torrent internally...) REM: (Thanks to Piru) When using unrar under Debian Linux, take care to use the unrar-nonfree package (apt-get install unrar-nonfree). |

The current AROS-MAX torrent has the following: aros.cover.jpg aros-label.jpg aros-max.rar I don't see a bzip2 file there anywhere. If you do, you're on an old torrent. Get the current AROS-MAX.

All of the first three that were put online: AROS-Labs, AROS-Workshop, AROS-Max. All of them were complete (as ctorrent-1.3.2 said), so it had nothing to do with that you removed them from your website. The same goes with the new AROS-Max.

If the archive is in a bz2 format I first have to decompress bzip2. Why should I try to unrar it or why should the author call his file *.bz2 if it isn't such?

The AROS-MAX torrent gives you a RAR archive. You need to use unrar or the shareware version of rar to unarc this file. I don't know that the 68K Amiga (or PPC Amiga) OS has a new version of unrar that works on the latest RAR archives.

I use ctorrent from Aminet on AmigaOS3.9.2. I downloaded all in all 5 torrent archives now. When they are completed you get a message in the shell that says that the download has succeeded and it will be reseeded 24 more hours.
But I never can unpack them. I tried Voodoo-X which uses xad, Unarc, even a bzip2 -d aros.iso.tar.bz2 doens't work because all of the files are corrupt like this one: [sprocki@Komma] 516 (/tmp/sprocki): bzip2 -d aros.iso.tar.bz2 bzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing. Input file = aros.iso.tar.bz2, output file = aros.iso.tar It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted. You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files. You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover data from undamaged sections of corrupted files. bzip2: Deleting output file aros.iso.tar, if it exists. ------- I do not think I am too dumb to unpack a file which I have done enough times to not be counted. But what goes wrong with it? Is ctorrent-1.3.2 corrupt? Please give some suggestions. I do not want to leech some more files for weeks and weeks to find that they cannot be unpacked because the archives are always corrupt.
