Multiboot problem AspireOS revelation

Hi Nikos,

I am new to AspireOS. I bought a ZG5 AAO and I have installed Ubuntu on one partition and AspireOS on the free space.

I run into problems as you guide list the 3 files needed in the Boot folder. This files does not exist on the AspireOS live cd.

My conclusion was to try to use the existing 5 files with the similar fileformat from your boot folder.

I followed your instructions for multiboot

I Managed to get as far as booting the Aros start page where I am supposed to select the boot media type.

Now I am stuck on options.

Could you help me understand which files are needed in the boot folder and what code needs to be entered in the Ubuntu file to properly boot AspireOS.

I am very eager and a little frustrated to get started trying the OS.

Thanks! Tomas

Ok, I found theme.var at sys:prefs/env-archive/sys and deleted it. Themes didn't work. So I copied over the theme.var from the CD back and then it worked again. And by renaming theme.var to anyting else (in my case _theme.var) I get the default look and by changing the name back I get Themes working again.

All is well again :)

Yasu: No, No :) I will learn you something about AmigaOS. The prefs files itself in sys:prefs/ can not be changed or broken.
AmigaOS, AROS store whatever OS config you have in Sys:prefs/env-archive/
In env-archive you have sys folder and zune folder. Look in either of them and I'm sure you will find some file called theme.prefs or something where your prefs are stored. If you delete that file it will go back to default config.

One day AROS will work beautifully. Until then, we have to be a little creative :)

OK, so it's the actual theme.prefs that breaks. I guess I can copy it over from the installation cd then. Will do that when I get home. Thanks :)

Yasu: You should look it prefs:Env-archive/sys or zune
There should be a file called theme.prefs or something that that you must delete to get it back to normal.

I guess you are right about deleting 3.1 theme. As said I been thinking about it before.

Messing up Themes prefs seems like a worse problem than not having that particular theme, since once you have choosen it you can't change back. And you get the same thing by removing themes in Startup-sequence anyway. So I think you should remove it until someone fix it.

So, what do I need to copy over to get Themes working again?

Yasu: I been thinking about removing the 3.1 theme before since it mess up theme prefs. The problem is that if I do that we don't have os 3.1 theme anymore. It should simply be fixed by someone.

Thanks for the help! I hope you do find the problem eventually :)

I still haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong when I try to install on USB. I have to try following the steps I got and try again.
