I think Poseidon creates a bluetooth.class (the actual stack or it might also crete the device driver as a stack) and then uses the usb dongle, but I think the stack should be hardware agnostic and the actual stack code be separate from Poseidons frame work and only the hardware driver part be in the poseidon class.

Nokia has released all the BlueZ (bluetooth stack code) for it's Symbian OS back in the days.http://www.bluez.org/development/helsinki2008

BlueZ might be a joint effort between many different parties.


There is also ready made code for embedded microcontrollers done years ago.

If the stack is not called a bluetooth stack and never claimed to be compliant with the bluetooth then I think we might get away with it.

If I recall it correctly, I think Chris Hodges made a bluetooth stack already but for some (legal?) reason did not ever release it. At least there is some code present in Poseidon that creates bluetooth.device or something similar.

I think the reason was that the name bluetooth could not be used because of copyright reasons, nor could it be claimed to be a bluetooth compliant.

I would like to see a switch to ABI v1 (64Bit)
Than fully support mainboards.

Bluetooth would require a lot of drivers for different BT chipsets. Before spending time on this, it would be more important to fully support mainboards, audio and graphic chipsets. 3D graphics is something we need on AROS.
