Thanks for mentioning and the link roMancer.
Indeed fully asm, so no way this is going to make it over to a modern version. Unless someone is in the habit of porting old assembler code. Feasibility: almost zero. Just to give a heads up.

ShapeShifter source code has just been released to AmiNet.
http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/ShapeShifter_src ( Oops, I just read it's 100% assembler... lol Anyway, nice addition, thanks to Christian Bauer for creating, and releasing it! )

Dosbox is slowly but surely heading towards being more of a full emulator than a Dos box. Obviously the focus is for good dos compatibility, but as the pc hardware emulation side of the coin matures more and more stuff is becoming possible. It's already possible to boot non Microsoft oses.
Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread. More on topic, but there's actually some pretty decent 68k mac software out there. I used to run it when I was a full time amithlon/amiga os3.9 user to run photoshop and (in my opinion) the best 68k web browser on any platfrom, iCab. There's also some good games that amiga never saw, like settlers2, alone in the dark triology, duke nukem 3d (amiga did end up getting a port, but it was very slow on real hardware (slower than quake and ab3d2) and mac port running in shapeshifter is a lot faster), warcraft2, Dark Forces, and others. |

The point was raised about running XP under DosBox. You cannot run XP under DosBox, Win98 is in the same family as Win95 and so is ME so they may run. Bochs I believe is a Virtual Machine which Dosbox is not.

@ClusterUK
Dosbox isnt limited to Win95 (Ive in fact posted some pictures here of it running win98) nor do running OSes need to be based on Dos. Easiest way to install other OSes (Dosboxes "normal os" doesnt need to be used) is to use Bochs, then transfer the hardfile for use with dosbox. From there you simply use a combination of the imgmount and boot commands from dosbox prompt. |
