Grab a shell, CD into your Quake directory, type "stack 300000" and then "start-quake", or "quake -cgfx -winsize 960 720 -mem 16", or whatever.

You also have to tell quake to use more memory or it will crash. The minimum zone it allocates is insufficient for its needs. I usually use the following to start quake:
quake -cgfx -winsize 960 720 -mem 16

No, up until recently it would just start by executing the "start-quake" script. How would I try it your way?
Not a big deal as I am sure that by the next Aros-Max it will be fine. |

Ok, Sucess!!
No more warnder crashes right after startup. On a side note: Quake now crashes my Warnder. Now please keep in mind all the things I have done to my box sence I installed Aros-Max. I have been through at least two kernels sence then. I just thought I would say something, "just in case" |

Try again with your mailer to save it to hd. There must be some way to prevent it to decompress the file on the fly before actually saving it on disk. Maybe something in context menus? OTOH it's very likely the kernel works also if it is not gzip-compressed. So it should also be no problem if you just copy over this 800kb file. As long as you give it the correct name (== filename matches entry in GRUB's menu.lst). Having taken a quick loog at GRUB sources it should not matter whether you keep the ".gz" extension or not. GRUB seems to check for compressed files the right way, by looking at first bytes in the file. And not by only looking at the file extension.
