But thanks for your bug report that the installer doesn't set up a working Windows boot option for you. You can choose the VESA resolution with the Boot prefs utility or by a boot option such as vesa=1024x768.

Most video cards have lots of screen resolutions available using native drivers. But the same card might only support a few resolutions in VESA mode.
To find out what VESA resolutions your card supports, type vbeinfo from the grub command line. Vbeinfo will display a list of screen resolutions that can be used in VESA mode. If you ask for a resolution that is not in the VESA list, you will get another resolution instead (one that is supported by your video card). If there is a problem displaying a supported VESA resolution, I'm not sure that would be caused by the boot manager (grub).

another propietary boot manager not grub , or modifications on some code de grub code to get the maximun resolution for the vesa driver is not enought, for example certain configurations , eg , my ATI RADEON HD6570.

@anvil,
I haven't tried this, but a workaround might be to temporarily disable your Windows drive in the bios. Then hopefully the installer would place the bootloader on your secondary drive. I have no problems setting resolution from the list of native modes using screen prefs. What driver are you using? If you are using VESA mode the resolution should be set from grub, which can be changed to your supported resolution by editing grub.cfg in the boot dir.

This is Fiero on another account because I used my old work email for that account and can't remember the pass word and I no longer have that email and this place doesn't allow gmail (wtf)...
Anyways, turns out I had never finished the install the first time...which I realized after doing it again but selecting the Format option this time... That said... Who's bright idea was it to let GRUB become the boot manager of every hard drive in my system? I had a dedicated drive to boot to and would use the BIOS boot manager to select the AROS drive when I wanted AROS. Now my main drive - which is running Windows 7 - doesn't boot to the Windows bootloader, I now get GRUB. WTF!!!? Which of course doesn't boot Window 7 despite selecting Windows 7. STUPIDEST IDEA EVER! Ok, I understand multi-partition hard driver...but I have none of those, I have MULTI hard drives. Why the hell would I have GRUB putting it's GRUBby little hands into all my hard drives? Now I have to repair my Windows drive... Also, what are the commands to define my boot resolution? It's coming in at 1920x1440 and my monitor is 1920x1080...and the Screenmode Prefs tool won't save it for use later - another stupid thing - just because it can't switch to it on the fly at that time...

Please note that if you have any personal work on either the system or work partition (if you have a seperate partition for that), that you need to backup those personal files first, before doing a format. In case you haven't got any (important or other) personal files on there, then don't be affraid to do a (re)format (choose use existing aros partitions). btw: check your MyWorkspace as well. As said before, a reconfigure is simple, and won't cost too much time (less then 10 minutes). In case of doubt or other question(s)/problems with install/backup, don't hesitate to ask. good luck!

Hi,
I installed from DVD over my old 1.4.x install without reformatting. When booting, I get a error complaining about the version of oop.library (I think) not being version 43 or higher? Should I just boot from DVD again and reformat this time? Thanks!
