I don't know what happened, but now the installer is extracting the applications just fine now and the installation was successful.
Thanks to everybody for their replying to help me out.

Please notice that OBVIOUSLY you're NOT supposed to have write permissions on the installation path (it's assumed you're doing this from a read-only media), but you should definitely have write and execution permissions on the path you're installing Icaros to. A screenshot would be welcome, either.

I had a similar problem. Iirc, I could not change permissions because I could not write to the DVD. There's probably a better way, but I copied the DVD to a directory on my hard disk, clicked to get the script properties and edited permissions as needed, I don't remember if I had to edit the script, but the files upacked as expected.

Listen, there are *no* odd reasons on Linux if something does not work. The most probable thing it's happening in your system, is that you have got some permissions issues in the paths you're using for installation.

so I did what you said and I did get the installation program running, but it fails to extract the applications for some odd reason

Easy
From a root shell: mount -t iso9660 -o loop path/to/image.iso /mnt/iso then cd to /mnt/iso and start the linux install script with the sh command.

I'm unable to install Icaros on Linux. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to mount the ISO in the way I'd be able to have the permission to launch the script.
