I've attached an archive with some bug-fixed components:
- emul-handler: fixes crash when opening "Host:" drive. - alsa.audio: fixes crash when libasound2 (i386) isn't installed on the host. - x11gfx.hidd: fixes a race condition that may cause crashes at startup. Attach file: Link only for registered users

Further investigations on 64bit hosted icaros makes me think, memory allocation is absolutely buggy. Look at that error and the % free memory on top.

I tested and can confirm what you said that it does not crash when run as root. But as you say, we cannot do that. Not least because if you start saving prefs etc., when you run as normal user you no longer have permissions to save things!
Sadly my experience goes from bad to worse. I will start a new thread when I have all of the information to hand. I really want this to work because I like what I can see, I just cannot get it to run well. Unfortunately I don't have the option of installing old versions of Linux etc. on this machine as it is used for other things and if I was going to setup a new machine then it may as well be a machine built from scratch with native compatible components. I also don't really need that since I have an Aspire One ZG5 now.
