Thanks for the link. Shame that I don't have time to test that amigans setup. Somebody in amiga land should get that step by step debugging working over the network with gdb!

I could use my win 10+ubuntu+winuae setup to test/develop for aros&amiga.

Very useful, and I think that it might apply as well to AROS, with the proper changes.

But also very complicated: a pre-built environment would be appreciated.

Yes. There's a guy over at Amigans.net who is using Visual Studio for OS4 development so it shouldn't be too difficult to adapt his method for AROS. Here's the link to his thread:

I also prefer VS (the Community edition is free), because it's much more complete. However it takes 10+GB of free space, and some time to load.

Visual Studio Code might be a good alternative.

I've already saw the Linux debugger link. In theory it should work with AROS too. But first the environment should be setup for AROS, and not for Linux.

I don't need any lighter as I work with VS Enterpise in my worklife. What itrest me is that you could also use VS for debugging Aros. See

In theory yes, but some AROS dev, which has knowledge of the build system, should take a look.

Anyway, Windows 10 now has support for the Linux user-land (the so called "bash": it installs a complete Ubuntu or OpenSUSE user-land subsystem), so it's also possible to develop AROS the same as on Linux.

The "problem" is that Windows developers like to use Windows tools, with Visual Studio on top, of course.

As a plus, now there's also Visual Studio Code which is a much lighter IDE with nice extensions. This is multi-platform. But the quality is not comparable to Visual Studio, of course.

Can this be adapted to compile AROS and debug it?

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/vcblog/2017/08/25/visual-c-for-linux-development-with-cmake/

I would like to use VS for developing AROS stuff if it's possible.
