I have made a first attempt at creating a series of tutorials for my in development Zuby extension for Ruby on AROS. At the moment I've started with creating a couple of buttons, but I want to go through other widgets next and introduce GUI creation with Glade in subequent videos.

Rewrote the code in more flexible C++ and added a "cave" level generator:
Edit: Just implemented a field of vision algorithm and made it possible to explore the map by moving an '@' character around on the screen. Screenshots for the "project" are now available at this URL: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g4wsb45l2o3vv2h/p4DDJodU3j

I just wrote a simple rogue-like random dungeon generator using curses:
[edit]Screenshots moved[/edit] I'm thinking of trying to make an adom type game with it but a lot less complex... I might even try writing it in C++ just so I can get some experience with that language (current test program is just normal C code).

Lately I've been a bit busy, but I'm back in business! I'm currently collaborating with sezero of uHexen2 fame in merging my changes back to the main codebase, and I'm working on replacing SDL with native functions.
And here's something which might interest XDelusion. I've got Odamex compiling! It can't connect to servers yet, and crashes on exit, but hey, don't be insatiable Attach file: (0.00 KB)

So, I've just installed your ATI driver and booted with it. On my IBM A31p I have now 1600x1200 VESA without graphic glitches. It has only the usual problems, like no full screen in Gianas Return and very slow fullscreen display in MPlayer. But the A31p only has USB 1.1 ;)
I'm not sure if the grub bootloader is configured correctly. It is the same USB stick I'm using on my Lenovo X61 Tablet with X3100 chipset. I just duplicated my first entry and changed the graphics entries. It' now: multiboot /boot/aros-pc-i386.gz vesa=32bit gfx=RadeonDriver lib=DRIVERS:radeon.hidd ATA=32bit floppy=disabled enableusb Is this line correct? Theses are the exact infos from the PCI Tool: Video PC Compatible VGA ATI Technologies. Inc. Radeon RV200 LX [Mobility FireGL 7800 M7] Subystem: IBM: 0x0518 Vendor ID: 0x1002 Device ID: 0x4c58 Class: 0x03 Bar0: Prefetchable Memory at 0xe8000000 (size 0xe8000000) Bar1: I/O at 0x3000 (size 0x100) Bar2: Memory at 0xd0100000 (size 0x10000)

If you have a white bar in the mouse pointer, probably you don?t use the driver that I am working with.
Probably you are using the old radeon driver that is not working properly because of updates in graphics library. Icaros 1.4.1 doesn?t use the driver I am working with as default. The driver I am working with has bad detection with card that is not properly supported, so I think that?s why, it?s better to have VESA instead? When it comes to HD series, there is some 2D software support against r6xx, r7xx chipset. But it?s painfully slow. I have had problem to get command buffer to work so I can use hardware acceleration. I will restart to try to get a better environment in Linux so I can trace what?s wrong. I have set up for the moment so I can recompile kernel, and the radeon DRM. But for the moment I have tried to figure out why it?s so painfully slow using CPU instead of GPU to handle graphics. My conclusion has been that it?s painfully slow to copy data from graphics memory to graphics memory. I have tried to find a solution on this problem; one way I have tested is to draw all graphics into ordinary ram first, then copy all this data to graphic memory and display the graphics. This way is much faster, but because I have not found some way to check when all bitmaps is updated from graphics library, this solution for the moment has failed. Maybe I can solve it by adding functions in graphics library. But then changes must be made in kernel. I don?t know if I will continue to try to get this working, or skip it and try to get hardware acceleration to work instead. When it comes to the resolution 1680x1050, I didn?t test this resolution before release? But I will try to do it when I have time? Thanks for the support:) http://www.syntaxsociety.se/~bearsoft/

I could definately use some assistance. It would probably be best if you are on IRC (chat.freenode.net#AROS) - so we can chuck ideas/code back and forth ;) I have the mentioned libraries compiling/linking already using the normal AROS build system/tools, but it needs the globals moved into the libbase still etc. BSzili is also likely to be helping ;) ![]() ![]()
