Whatever the new API will be, backward compatibility with lowlevel.library would be great. If it could occupy two lowlevel ports with little to no configuration, games like Tower57 could work out of the box with it.

Feel free to jump in, I have no desire to define a new gamepad API as I've not ported anything to AROS and as such don't know what is needed.

I could make some simple library interface that can be queried for xinput gamepads and allocated and then just poll the inputs, but...

Great work Dizzy :)

The original AmigaOS API is almost useless if using more than 1 controller.
On the original Amiga hardware it was a matter of pluging inn to the mouse port for joystick nr. 2 but with USB it has to be configured to other port than the default "port 1" and that is not a straight forward task.

I know for Xinput on MorphOS they use sensors.library
I'm not sure how it works but some might have some input on this.

Just did a commit to the repository of a "arosx.class" named Poseidon usb lowlevel class that tries to show XInput thumb stick movements on device settings window

It does not communicate the information to anywhere (Common gamepad/game controller API is needed)

It is not enabled to build for the nightlies, but feel free to do so if it seems to work.

Tested it with Logitech F710 and Logitech F310, there is no limit set on the number of controllers that it shows (if it shows)

Two gamepads on AROS video

Got the controller to talk back...

Only prints the data on Trident.

My Linux seems a bitty sluggish after today, screen recorder is a bit sluggish. Better reboot the machine...

Seems that I've lost the password and not sure what email address I was using at the time as the password recovery doesn't send anything to my current email address... :)

In order to do what you want you will not be able to use my Zune class.
You need to create a new one, embedding the drawing of the joypad background and then the buttons and pads based on their status.

I've been putting it of actually trying to communicate with the controller as I've got nothing to feed it to.

May I use your MUI code as a base for the new one?
