many 86k-coding info's there, so it could be helpfull not even
for newbies.

I personnaly have many projects in mind which are quite related in fact ...

First, I just wanted to port my old Nostalgia emulators GUI to AROS but not the way it was (Gadtools) but using ZUNE which I don't really know and I never did MUI programming before too ... and since I didn't do C/C++ coding for a while, I have a lot of steps forward before this port to happen :(

Second, this porting leads me to one point : it is very difficult for someone coming from the outside to get into coding for Amiga likes ... it's hard to find proper documentation, there are no good IDEs ... well, on the overhaul, it is just very complicated.
So, one of my dream projects would be to help in the creation (and not create myself since I'm not good enough for such a big project) of a cross platform IDE coupled with a dedicated website which would centralize tools and documentation for Amiga likes OSes.
I don't mean an IDE for any kind of OSes but something dedicated for our platforms, something modern with at least, the minimum tools for coding with comfort.
But I guess, this project is certainly only a dream :)

Third, I'd like to help on different areas such as websites (hosting, mirrors, ...) since I have my own company and web development and hosting is part of our work, or other stuff like testing, documentation or translations.

yes it is in contributionpack. From what I heard if should be to look at where in the source you see [32] and change it to whatever you like. Lets say [64] that should cover most filenames.
If you look in dopus config it is possible to change how many caracters should be displayed in different parts, but if you try to change filename length it is limited to [32] and that includes the filename and the size of the file. That is not enought.

Dopus is very fast with AROS, but you are right we could need a new file manager.
From my point of view a file manager is a must in a OS. For this time Dopus could be updated by a good developer pretty fast, and untill we get our own file manager, I think its the way to go.

OXteroOX: I would be very glad if you could at look at the file filename limit.

That long? just remember i read something but forgot when it was.

I've marked sourceforge's dopus but theres's no need to wait for something. i first want to become more familiar with Aros.
on another side i think it would be more usable to write a new Filemanager which uses new Aros routines even when it
took longer to get a Filemanager with the same posibilitys.
i think it will be (faster? and) more compatible then an
updated Dopus.

We will see...
Let me one to three smaller progs to trying with Aros thereafter we can discuss what to do

maybe there will be an updated Dopus till then

You can find the files for Dopus here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/diropus4/

Noone been working on Dopus AROS version for mabye 10 years.

To me it's not about makeing everything up to working standards. If someone could fix the 2 tings I mention above it would make a hell of a lot difference form todays version.

I too like this way of un/packking but my thoughts are more
a doubleclick solution for quickly unpacking archives

on the other side there is someone working on dopus
i remember to read about in the news archives(i think)

nb: the sources for different versions are on Aminet

On the other hand, I would love Dopus to be fixed. You rem.. the way dopus was. Unpacking files to destination just draging the archives.
Also Dopus have problem with files names longer than 25 caracters, that is one thing I would love if someone could look at.
I know this have been fixed in newer versions of dopus 4 than we have.
I don't have the link right here, but sure is open source project.
