Windows XP with SP2 or higher is compatible with SATA AHCI, only older versions are not.

Paolo: First of all you need to install the night build to disk with the AHCI mode before you can add AHCI to the GRUB boot line. Adding AHCI to grub line booting from optical drive will not work well I think.

Here I am!

Tried on an ABIT IP35 Pro motherboard

Details here:http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Abit-IP35-Pro-Motherboard-Review/477/3

Used 11 Oct ABIv0 x86 nightly build

All SATA controllers were placed in AHCI mode from BIOS.

Boot from DVD has been painfully slow, just only because it stopped here and repeated many times this passage: (see shot #1, with boot messages on black background).

Then, it got stuck with a loop of AFFS errors (see shot #2, with intuition grey screen and error message)

I feel that, maybe, continuing retrying/cancel will lead to Wanderer. However I have already canceled lots of times without success and I got a little bored...

Both SATA DVD and Hard Drive are connected to the ICH9 southbridge. And yes, I have added 'AHCI' to the GRUB boot line.

I downloaded both nightly i386-pc boot-isos dated 11-Oct-2012.... burned the cdroms and tried on my Core2Duo intel mobo PC. (A debranded HP media PC) bios has AHCI set.

abi_v0 boots without ahci added to grub menu entries, but adding it stops the booting with the "waiting for bootable media" screen.

abi_v1 cd fails at the waiting bootable media screen under all conditions. Oh well.

dragonflybsd does boot ahci on it.

Droopy: Even if XP does not support AHCI, it is still enabled in the BIOS of my more recent ACER aspire one computer, where AROS does not boot, even if I change to IDE.

Windows xp dont support AHCI. Atleast not "out of the box" it will need some additional software and tinkering I belive. (This gives atleast me a small notice that AROS is growing and developing nicely, and in some parts passing windows XP capabilities)

I will wait a while before trying ACHI but it is great nevs to se it is worked upon and verry apreciated work to.
