I can be wrong, but today platfrom are does not matter. I mean all good programs already and in future will be done on SDL. Becouse authors, want make more money and it always mean support many platfroms. So, in general better update SDL much, to make any SDL ports easy :)

About music itself - all modern apps , it's heavily apps which user sometime can't understand from first time (like photoshop for everyone who first time work with graphics after primitive painters). It's all works heavily with memory, video memory, hdd, etc. Tons of samples, channels, etc ,etc. All of this mean inside stable and fast machine. Aros already more or less "fast". But stable ? noo. Far from it at moment. If right now any musican (real one) will going on AROS he will found tons of annoing, little problems, which he not have on win-xp. Only after we can show users stable, fast, light os - only after possible to think about somethink like this.

Imho of course.

Hi,

Classic amiga was for a long time one of the best home studio/music workstation on the scene, especially for audio (even if we had one of the best MIDI software with bars and pipes too).

Today, we can see on classic amigas (equiped with pro sound cards) or even on atari falcon some great pieces of sound and music software, for home studio and DJing.

On the open source linux side, it's the same thing : Ardour, Audacity, Mixxx... plenty of great software with available sources.

Live session music and digital DJing are a very appreciated activity today (with software like Mixxx, traktor, ableton...) in my opinion, Aros should be a great candidat for that activity : fast boot, good audio, hard shutdown...juste like hardware music machines like mpc2000 and other hard live dedicated sequencers.

Moreover, amiga (morphos, aros, amigaos) is now a "specialist" machine. SO it should be interesting for "specialist" range of users, like digital musicians/djs, people always searching for rare and exotic stuff.

Why not bring back on aros the great music machine reputation of the amiga ?
