try using the failsafe option of aros-max (i think its the ATA=32bits option that is your issues)

Wow... I tried mounting CD0: again after closing the dialog box and it caused the machine to reset. That can't be good.

Ok, I'm settup up an old PC as an AROS development system with the native 386 version of AROS.

First problem...
I have a switch box that lets me share the same monitor, keyboard and mouse with two systems. Whenever I switch away from AROS and back the mouse driver goes nuts and I have to reboot AROS to get control again.

Now the big problem...
I have ISO images of AROSMax, AROS snapshot and AROS nightly build... none boot properly.
The computer bios supports booting from CD and it works fine with other operating systems. It even works with the AROS CDs up to a point. It loads AROS to where it needs a boot device and then the IDE becomes unreadable. I then have to boot from a floppy image.

I was able to set up the hard drive partition etc... with the hdtoolbox (even though it STILL locks up and crashes at times). However, AROS can't see the CD and the format64 command isn't on the floppy.

I tried mounting CD0: manually but it gives me the error 'Cannot open "ide.device" unit 1'.

So, I have no way of formatting the hard drive to install AROS... and I'm not even sure if it will boot because of what I think is an IDE driver issue.

The system uses an AMD K6-2 550MHz, DFI K6XV3+ (I think) motherboard with VIA chipset supporting IDE UDMA66, PCI, AGP, built in USB, parallel, serial, etc. The graphics card is an AGP ATi Radeon 7000.
