The md5sum command is there, so the updater could use it. The command is simple:
md5sum foobar.iso

The whole thing could look something like this:

- download a text file with the correct md5 checkusm from icaros website
- download the update iso
- generate md5 checkum of the downloaded iso and verify if it matches the one from the textfile
- if the checksum is correct, continue, otherwise throw an error and stop.

EDIT: Since the ISO is compressed, it might be better to verify the md5 of the compressed archive instead.

Paolo, you should implement a checksum verification for the download. Today I had a situation on one system where the download was interrupted, but the updater still gept going. Quite dangerous...

The day I will know how to do that, I'll implement it.

Great news. I think I'll install a proper new dvd install, since my setup is quite messy due to poseidon testing.

And I'll wait an icaros update including poseidon, since it doesn't work for now on my hardware.

Thank you again, paolo, for your great job.

edit : I submitted the news in the main french amiga community forum, I hope it will bring us more aros/x86 amiga users !

LiveUpdater downloads the update CD only. Download of the whole DVD is not even considered with LiveUpdater.

Seems like there is an Update to download....

just one thing... with the updates 'packages' you make.. does it in fact down load the whole DVD image... or do you put together one with has just the new bits in it...

if it is the whole thing.. would you consider making one that is just the updates ? just for speeding up the downloads.. ( and to make it so we don't use so much of the down load limits :)

anyway.. once its finishined installing I'll see how it goes with the actuall update.. (i'm running this in VM at the moment.. so download is limited to 35kb/s ??? for somre reason :)
