I can and probably will do the port to AROS if nobody else volunteers. When I start it will depend on available time, not on the amount of the bounty.
But as Scalos won't be open source I certainly would like that the development of wanderer also continues.

greets,
Staf.

sorry for the bump, but is this currently being ported or just a job for the future. i really like wanderer, but scalos is more complete and i feel that if scalos was around then more time could be devoted to things other than wanderer (not that i have noticed much of a change in it) as there will be a workbench. scalos was always my wb of choice on amiga, so i am quite thrilled at the prospect!

I hope not AROS will end up like linux. We dont need a gnome/kde battle on AROS. If they both can execute the same apps and only need some different libraryes then Im ok with it.

Scalos|Wanderer|ambient|Dopus are just file managers and at least on amiga land no program are made specially made for them (unless we're talking of plugins), they are just launched by them. It's something that Amiga land is(was) used to, freedom of choice.

Dont take me wrong, just curious. Why Scalos port? Isnt Scalos Workbench replacement? Isnt Wanderer Workbench replacement? Wouldnt it be better for AROS to finish, polish and enhance Wanderer? I am new here so it is possible I missed something so feel free to edify me. Have a nice day...

I also made this comment to Dammy when he queried about the tasks for porting AROS. But in the end people can decide if they contribute to this bounty or not.

greets,
Staf.

Had you spoken with the actual maintainers of Scalos? They weren't to keen on the idea of having Scalos ported elsewhere from PPC...

Inquiring Minds...

Actually, it was one of them who wrote the objectives for the bounty.

I did write the objectives for the bounty; but please don't consider me as a core Scalos developer, that's too much honor. I'm porting it to OS4 (and maybe later to AROS).
It was jurgen lachmann who contacted Aaron to query if somebody was candidate to do the port to AROS.

greets,
Staf.

ACK! Linux and Win are good for helping in the first steps, but lets' think the AROS way!!! I never would like to see a linux kernel as the base of AROS like dozens other OSs did it before.

Scalos will help build bridges between AROS and other Amiga-like OSs. One thing I love about AROS is end user has a choice.
