How about porting AmiCygnix to AROS so we can use a few other apps besides Abiword?:
http://arosworld.org/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=104&pid=541#post_541 It is already available for AOS 4 and the source code is also available for download. Gnumeric and Gimp have been already ported for AmiCygnix, as well as other great apps.

I'd love if Cinnamon Writer would be ported to AROS. It's AmigaOS 4.x native so no ixemul.library is needed, while Abiword practically needs a X server installed on AmigaOS and is somehow 'alien' to its philosophy.
>http://desler.be/modules/wfchannel/ It won't be as complete as other word processing tools, but maybe it worths porting.

google docs should be a good alternative, but we have to wait for a more advanced browser ( = graphics rendering speed, especially cache and scrolling) to make it productive. ;)

Google docs anyone ? Or why not Wordworth or finalwriter with UAE and even nicer later on with UAE integration. You can go to O1i's blog and watch the screenshot of Wordworth "integrated". Very nice.
Open Office is too huge to port. There has been so much discussion about it. As a joint effort between OS4/MOS/AROS then I could belive a bit in it but not else. Abiworld maybe, i don't know how had that would be, but I guess it would require a bounty at the minimum. For me printing support is higher priority.

I agree with you. It should be great to port abiword, even if open office is better because it's a complete suite.
But yes, a good word processing software is needed !

Hi folks,
I am amongst the people who have insisted on the eee bounty, now it is frezeed since many months. I was wondering if could be possible to use the money for porting abiword in aros. it is a modern, very nice and light word processor able to work also on doc and docx file format. what do you think about? I am interested still in aros for the eee 701, or also ikaros, someone was able to install it? cloud warm regards from west midlands
