Give it a go. You have nothing to lose. You could set your system up now and still install AROS at it's current state of development.
Lets face it. Many users would upgrade Windoze for rediculous amounts of money. Why not keep updating AROS, it's free.
Once the TCP stack is done and a browser released. Bobs your uncle.

Well hurry up with that TCP IP stack then!

Seriously - could fun to play with on my X86 box.

It would be cool to take a Micro A1 and mini ITX x86 board and have them in the same case. One running Aros, one OS 4.

There are probably very few people using it from day to day. There is no TCP/IP stack yet to enable communication with the outside world via the Internet so until the TCP/IP development is complete then nothing will happen there.

As for word processing. There is no real office based activities either. I hope it isn't long. I believe that the key is through the TCP/IP. Once this is complete, the world will open up and people will not need to rely on other OS's to access the Internet for example. I think the development of software will rocket once this happens.

Just wanted to know how far is AROS from being usable for day to day stuff. To be specific:

word processor,
email and web browsing.
