Well that is pretty rare but old HD's may not be compatible...

Does AROS use ADFS?

AROS, as file system, uses AFFS "AROS fast file system".

I've reconfigured my 2nd seagate drive to an RDB or whatever partition table using the HDtoolbox in the 19/03/04 night build CD I use, So how do I partition it to DF0 and DF1?

DFx are usually reserved for floppy devices names. I think you wanted to say "DH0" or "DH1".

I cant run the AROS drive as master, for XP reasons, And somehow I'm guessing
mount(0)Rdisk(1)partition(1)="AROS - AMIGA Research Operating-System" Isnt gonna get me very far as a bootloader. I'm quite happy to use a bootloader on a floppy disk to make the AROS drive boot, but I want the AROS drive to be bootable if ever I CAN get a bootloader for it on my XP system.

You should perhaps think the other way out: Use Grub to boot XP?

So, How do I partition the now-RDB'd drive using AROS?

First, you should manage one MBR partition with the entire disk. Then, in this partition, add one RDB sub-partition. This RDB sub partition contains the "DH0" one. And have a look at other threads here, speaking of Grub and native installation.

Ok, thinking about it at a time other than 2am made me realise, it doesnt recognise my drives because They arent Aros compatible! Does AROS use ADFS? I've reconfigured my 2nd seagate drive to an RDB or whatever partition table using the HDtoolbox in the 19/03/04 night build CD I use, So how do I partition it to DF0 and DF1? It's 280mb, and I only ever used 116 on my amigas anyway, I'm sving my 1.3g drive for my A600 laptop. Finding the screen, FDD, CDD and battery would be good but cant find an old working-but-junk laptop.

I cant run the AROS drive as master, for XP reasons, And somehow I'm guessing

So, How do I partition the now-RDB'd drive using AROS? Do I need to find my old partition manager and recompole it? it was easyide or something
maybe scsi, but i just used it for ide anyway lol

Assorted Shodan junk - HDD, Net, the usual
#1
Hi, I'm shodan (after the AI in System shock) i wanna know, HDD installation is possible, and I have a second 270mb HDD in my XP system just itching to dual boot. I had NT on there, but I installed it as a master, and now it's a slave it wont load, and I cant find the CD to reinstall. So, ladies and gentlefolk, Question one is: How do I install a native AROS system to my PC? the Fact that it doesnt recognise my 2nd CD drive or either HDD or floppy probs doesnt help but. . .

Next thing is, when installed, what line do I have to add to my Windows XP boot loader (boot.ini) to add AROS as a menu option?

and finally, the typical "what I want post"
Obviously, the fully featured blah blah wossname everyone else wants, but The most important features for me are HDD installability, a network connection to a "microsoft network" using a standard RTL-8139 card, with support for TCP/IP and the ability to connect to a w8 "internet connection sharing" host and a dynamic update serice so I can update Aros without having to burn ISO's ETC I can just patch my old version with a new one straight off the net. i know thats a few years away so it's not a "gimme gimme" moan post.

But the most important thing is getting my AROS drive installed. GIMME GIMME!!!!!

thanks,

S-H-O-D-A-N
