Just commit it to the current (20140828) ABIv0-ot branch and it will go out with the next nightly on aros.org :)

I've committed a fix for the "Please insert volume SYS" bug to ABIv1. It will hopefully appear in ABIv0-ot soon. It looks like I introduced this bug while fixing other bugs, so I'm sorry.
The problem was that an error code was sometimes not set when a partition was found to be unbootable, so DOS thought it was bootable. Now it should even be safe for the user to select an NTFS partition from the early boot menu: DOS will fall back to trying other partitions instead.

Hi Magorium,
Re. my desktop refusing to boot, that was a slightly different issue - back on those WIPs the boot didn't get as far as the grey wanderer screen, it stalled at the kernel messages. Hi Niel, Same as Caveman and Paolo; I do have an NTFS pratition on that machine but the NTFS handlers are removed from both the kernel modules and l, and it is the sys: error. Over on the Icaros WIP mailing list I posted the error requestor that comes up after the sys: message (it;s in the Icaros WIP 15 thread). The CD drive is the first drive in the early bootup menu, and is indicated as selected by the asterix. Cheers, Nigel.

i was unable to locate, but reading all these 'issues' ... somehow that reminded me of something. Didn't we discuss this earlier (i mean the cd-rom drive, unable to boot, getting into early bootmenu to circumvent). If not mistaken then deadwood addressed this in the past ? red: (i seem to remember this was on icaros ML and ntromans being the intial reporter. Later on, testing WiP 14, he reported "and also from DVD on my HP desktop (the one that used to give lots of problems booting). ").

In my case, when AROS was trying to boot from the NTFS partition, it stopped loading after intuition went up, popping up a error requester complaining that it couldn't find the "SYS:" volume. Quote:
1) talking about 'choices' isn't correct in fact (sorry for having misused the concept), because AROS just takes for good the first volume it finds, being it a USB pendrive, a CD-ROM player, the first partition in the drive (even a FAT or NTFS one). If you go in the early boot menu as shown in my video, you'll see by yourself what I mean. 2) That's what I could experience. Problem is that AROS not only identifies the partitions, but blindly tries to boot from the first one. As Kalamatee confirmed, that shouldn't be the correct behavior. Quote: Do your computers boot without selecting the boot volume if you have no ntfs-handler present? Do you have NTFS partitions on these computers? And if they fail to boot, what are the symptoms? A "Please insert SYS:" requester like in Paolo's case? I can speak for myself: no ntfs handler is loaded and no ntfs handler is present in my latest testings. But AROS still tries to boot from the first partition (which, in my case, happens to be a NTFS volume (windows C: drive).
