Re: crash in DoSuperMethod for custom superclass of NList

I'm happy to report that I solved the problem, using the time-honoured (if laborious & boring) technique of creating a self-contained test case & then simplifying it until it starts working.

Turned out that the problem was a difference between how NList's NEW method was implemented on AROS & OS4/MOS. Specifically, on AROS it calls the GET method on itself, while on OS4/MOS it does not. And my custom class (which overrides the GET method) was not able to handle this while it was in an incomplete state (now fixed).

Hi PortablE,

I once had similar issue with the custom class and i am not too sure but made few changes than it was solved, I have copied code here which helped i thing and again i could be wrong
//mk sure you have included SDI/includes
#include <SDI/SDI_compiler.h>
#include <SDI/SDI_hook.h>
#include <SDI/SDI_stdarg.h>

#ifdef __AROS__
#define TAGITEM const struct TagItem **
IPTR DoSuperNew(struct IClass *cl,Object *obj,ULONG tag1,...);
#endif

IPTR DoSuperNew(struct IClass *cl,Object *obj,ULONG tag1,...)
{

AROS_SLOWSTACKTAGS_PRE(tag1)

//return(DoSuperMethod(cl,obj,OM_NEW,&tag1,NULL));

return(IPTR)DoSuperMethod(cl, obj,OM_NEW,AROS_SLOWSTACKTAGS_ARG(tag1));

AROS_SLOWSTACKTAGS_POST
}

(Solved) crash in DoSuperMethod for custom superclass of NList

I've got a custom superclass of NList, which works perfectly on OS4 & MOS, but is crashing on AROS, and I'm having difficulty working out why. Hoping someone else might be able to think of something I haven't.

Here is a screenshot of the crash requester containing the stack trace:

It's difficult to provide my actual code, but the call structure leading to the crash goes something like this:

a macro which is really...
muiClass_newObject() which then calls...
NewObjectA() which then calls...
muiObject_dispatcher() which then calls...
muiObject_new() which then calls...
DoSuperMethodA() which then inexplicably crashes on AROS.

While I'm not any expert on MUI custom classes, it's crashing so early-on that it's difficult to see what it could be objecting to.

Any thoughts?
