I do not like typing in code, not knowing (without external references - and that takes time, I have none) what to look for... I take it that you are refering to the code hint or parameter hints ? Personally i for example use a copy of tmuiobject as a helper unit for all it's properties to see. Ofcourse it's getting a bit outdated now :S Concerning AROS documentation itself, (although not promising anything) i'm working on it. Autodocs can be converted into html easily enough but i have no clue when it comes to incorporating it into the lazarus helpsystem. I am also exploring the possibility of creating it from the sourcetree in a more automatic way. Concerning the AROS system units itself i'm working on that too but this is really boring. Also exploring the possibility of automation here. You could also use amiga unints instead. Just remove all asm related stuff if it only comes to hint about library functions and defines. As long as it is compilable it works for me, just do not try and execute it using AROS/Amiga functions ![]() Quote: So for the time being... forget this question. will do ![]() Quote: but as a sidetrack I could mention that I looked at the possibilities to do some basic "canvas" stuff... to make primitives drawing on... (basic ground for more complex stuff, later on)... Interresting... Just to point out it's for exampe possible to make a sort of wrapper for existing AROS native stuff. You could create e.g. a bitmap in AROS and use a wrapper in fpc to acces this bitmap by using standard AROS library functions instead of mui. It's not my objective though.

it has to wait, at the moment I am creating a set of helper (wrapper) units with methods, that works the same on Windows and Aros.
Reason 1 - So I can use the same set of units and methods on Windows and Aros and get the same result... Reason 2 - So I could have code hints in Lazarus when I try to do something... I do not like typing in code, not knowing (without external references - and that takes time, I have none) what to look for... So for the time being... forget this question. but as a sidetrack I could mention that I looked at the possibilities to do some basic "canvas" stuff... to make primitives drawing on... Hi Anonymous_Coward
Do not worry, i'm not going to rant (it is not suppose to be) ;-p Quote: Now! the cycle button... it has an cycle gadget to the left that allows one to cycle through all items in the cycle button list... Is it possible to not display that little cycle gadget but display the button with it's drop down list? IMHO there are a couple of solutions: 1) Doing it the RAD way: That would been overriding the OnPaint event and adjust painting to your needs. Unfortenateley This is not implemented atm. Can you take the effort to implement it  ? 2) Hack your way into AROS mui classes: That would mean finding out all about the cyclegadgetclass (AFAIK sources are available) tampering with the object in memory by diverting it to use your paintroutine instead of the default one. 3) Doing it the AROS way Create (override?) a new mui class that behaves exactly the way you described. Then use this class. 2 cents: can't you use a button (LCL) an edit (LCL) and a popuplist (MUI) ? (instead of tampering with excisting cycle gadget) Well, the above mentioned popped up into mind when thinking about facing your situation. So the real question would probably be what to do next. My question would be if it is possible to create private classes on the fly using MUI. Although i think your question would probably be how to override/divert that *am* paint routine.

Hi!
This might seem to be an "silly" question (but even "silly" questions could have a logical reason... Now! the cycle button... it has an cycle gadget to the left that allows one to cycle through all items in the cycle button list... Is it possible to not display that little cycle gadget but display the button with it's drop down list? reason for asking... use it as an application menu inside the application itself, without the need to use the screen menu... yes I know... but before you argue against my ideas... Why should you do that.... you should use the recommended style guidelines so users not got confused... you should... ... ... answer: I know that some thinks that the recommended way is the only way... I beg to differ though, but my question is still the same, is it possible?
