For OAuth2 you could look in Curl (contrib/development/libs/curl)

BTW, instead of client software for DropBox maybe you can think about a file system handler? This way it would be integrated with the Wanderer :)

I didn't dare that much *that* would be a really interesting toy project, but I think it's a bit over my head.
I remember having seen something about the inode notification system in Linux (inotify). No idea if the AROS filesystem APIs expose something similar.
But this deserves a bullet point in my todo list

I guess this should be interesting:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=81213

there's already a Google Drive handler for AmigaOS 3.1 being actively developed, with a DropBox sequel already planned. I guess that reinventing the wheel might be quite pointless, and maybe discovering the author and talking with him about a port, or a team work, would be both feasible and a good idea.

For OAuth2 you could look in Curl (contrib/development/libs/curl)

I haven't found a simple C-library for OAuth2 with suitable license, most are C++, C# , Java or something else.

Why do interesting projects, if you can do *really* interesting projects :D

Well, in principle you can run any program you write as 'a service running in the background'.

Usually one would create a commodity (don't let the part "custom input handler" mislead things).

well, for the time being I'd like to explore things. Maybe I will "port" to current ABIv0 jcalc (aminet.net/package/util/misc/jcalc_0.4_b185-aros), just to see what has changed or if a simple recompile will do.

Then I'd like to write a simple Dropbox client. I saw that someone wrote it for the TRS-80, so why can't we have it too? I could check if there's a simple, ready-to-use C library that already implements the Dropbox OAUTH2 API and port it to AROS, hoping that its dependencies will be already satisfied.
Probably writing it from scratch would take me eons to finish (I'm not a good C coder).
I'd like also to explore the AROS equivalent of a Linux system service running in the background (if any is available).

Also, Paolo is always in need of someone to help with a small utility for Icaros and the installation process. I could see what I can do there.

I'm just a hobbist with little free time, so my contribution would be small anyway...

I could also write some documentation. Last time I did some coding here I've learned many things that others could benefit.

My wishlist is looong ...
