Awesome, Thanks Yannick! Why wasn't this included on the porting guide on aros.org?

When I wrote it, it was not possible to run configure scripts natively.

Your should be running all dev/build tools from sh anyhow since they are all ported from *nix and require stuff that sh provides.

you can run configure under native this way:
sh configure --build=i386-pc-aros

Make sure to check the other options :
sh configure --help

Most of the time you need to add flags for the linking stage, sometimes a little hacking in the configure script is necessary to bypass some tests.

Once the Makefile is generated, it might still require some tweaking.

Porting question on ./Configure

Hey Everyone,

So I am giving a try porting some games from the open source linux world to AROS just for fun and to learn.

I read fishy_fis porting guide on his blogsite and that was a great start as long as I already have a Makefile.

What if I only have Makefile.in and Makefile.am? For what I have gathered, it seems that I need to run the ./Configure to generate a Makefile to then run a make etc. etc.

However, the ./Configure is not an option if I run AROS native or Virtual Box.

From this example, looks like it can only be done if I run AROS in Linux hosted mode?

Quote:

./configure CC=i386-aros-gcc \
--build=local --host=i686-aros
--disable-nls --without-x --without-pic --disable-shared
Hint

It makes sense to write the configure statement to a text file. This way we can easily re-run it like sh build.sh. But before we re-run the script we have to do rm -f config.cache in order to reset the configuration process.
Here is an explanation of the options we have used above:

CC=i386-aros-gcc
We want to use the AROS compiler. Otherwise we'd get a Linux binary.
--build=local --host=i686-aros
Tells the configure script to cross-compile to i686-aros.
--disable-nls --without-x --without-pic --disable-shared
Disables some features which aren't supported by AROS.

Is there any way that I can execute the ./Configure script under AROS native and not hosted?
