So that would mean they can't part of a distro

What does the non-derivates bit mean?

Anyway, my main point was to make the images
configurable. The AISS MasonIcons icons were just
examples of what could be used.

No derivatives means they can't be modified without permission either. As Caveman wrote, it's quite possible we'd be able to get permission to redistribute the specific ones under more liberal terms if we ask.

I agree about making them configurable...

You might get permission to use them. There is only a handful of low res icons needed.

Is the license for this suitable for AROS, though? It's CC Attribution Non-Commercial Non-Derivatives, which is much stricter than the license AROS is under.

Hi Neil,
Does it worth an entry on todo list?
something like make it not hardcoded or something?
as you explained to me, doesnt sound not supporting 24bits issue, but other kind of approach.
and in a blind guess, replace one hardcode by another wouldnt be a long term approach.
but again, maybe im completelly wrong. im mostly tring to figure out how to help this topic to something pratical. :)

Best regards,

afaik, aros image handling is ok.

AFAIR the current images are hardcoded into coolimages.library, and no one who's still around knows how to change them. This doesn't mean it can't be done of course, just that some coding would be involved.

@cavemann:

Well, there's not too much to see at this point, really.

I've started to compile the sixteen or so defined CoolIcons images. The icons come from AISS, Amiga Image Storage System,
an excellent collection with thousands of useful icons.
They are indeed 16x16 pixel.

Check out this PDF:

http://www.masonicons.info/resources/aiss410.pdf

Go to page 24 and forward, that's the kind of images that could be used
as replacements.

For example: list_ok is a lovely little icon that be
used.

@ Kotler

Yeah, those hard coded icons are not 'cool' anymore. How about a little preview of the icons you have? Are they 16x16 too?
