Thanks for the feedback. I already thought about this and will take it into consideration, once I update the Script. Right now I am busy with some other situations that I have to solve.

Just a tiny request,

It seems the build is taken place on the source tree, could you adjust the script such that it doesn't?

Best regards

I have to thank you again!

I managed to run your script fully on this new to me Fedora 28 installation, been a while when I last managed to compile a bootable disc!

Had to install perl-Switch as that was missing from my system.

Sorry for my late reply. I was struggeling through some recent AROS changes in SVN/Git, that I had to sort out in the script.

Well what I intended saying is this: I had SDL-devel already installed and after issuing ./configure --target=something-hosted, the configure script might have chosen SDL as the displaying mechanism.

Thanks. I saw that the grub2 issue and zuneview issues got fixed in SVN, therefore I disabled these parts in my script (not tested).

On my F28 I can't use the X-11 gfx driver as our driver isn't compatible with the Wayland X-11 emulation layer, so I use SDL gfx driver for the hosted AROS, needs SDL-devel installed and configuring with the line --enable-x11-hidd=no --enable-sdl-hidd=yes and then manually copying the SDL driver from storage/monitors to devs/monitors.

Interesting! I compiled AROS hosted (32bit. no contrib, no ports) around 3 days ago and I haven't had any compile issues or complaining incompatibilities. Though I remember, that I had SDL-devel installed. So I assume, that the configure script automagically switched to SDL ? I haven't added any special configure flags nor did I had to copy over any SDL drivers from storage/monitors. I will retry this and report back.

For anyone else who may be interested. Here an update of the script.

Hello,

If this is a "duplicate" reply to your post then it's because aros-exec once again hanged itself when I hit the submit button...

But never the less thanks for the script, it's a lot more mature than what I use.

Please find attached the update of the aros.sh buildscript for people using Fedora 29 or similar RPM based distros.

The script ran through without any errors on current SVN checkout. If the zuneview (lineending) issue has been fixed in SVN then please comment line 208 (fkt_patch_fixes_zunepaint) within the script.

The script downloads and builds in the directory where the script was called. E.g. if you are in /mnt and you call the script from there then the stuff is being downloaded and build there.

usage: "sh aros.sh -a32" (or -a64) is what I use here.

(deleted: look at the latest in further comments)

Yes besides "make bootiso" I know (or remember) the stuff. I usually generate the ISO with "make distfiles". Or is there a difference between "make bootiso" and "make distfiles" in genrating the ISO ?

What I like doing right now is to compile the entire AROS stuff including contrib and ports. And the stuff needs to compile on my system with the provided tools.

But things are looking good so far. Once the compile is finished and the ISO created I will leave it like that and update once in a while.

My approach right now is this:
1) get everything compiled
2) look around and see what's there
3) play around with the ISO and the stuff compiled
4) see further...

Right now I am only playing around... Could be a phase as long as I am interested :)

you can run aros fine with qemu. im doing it for testing purposes now and then, for drivers if i dont test hosted, because its easier and faster than set up or update another vmware client.

you need:
make
and:
make bootiso
and then boot from that image, but probably you know.
