Maybe I can help with coding, but it's more likely I can help with a donation. But, I've some questions:

1. Where can I information about the donation procedure?
2. I already have a PayPal account, but where can I define the target bounty?
3. Who administrates the money until it's distributed?
4. What happens with the money, if a bounty is cancelled?
5. What happens with the money, if Team AROS retires?

Thanks for the additional info. I hope it all works out...

Hi, at the end I made it - on VMWare!
But it was a hard journey and I think it's not finished yet. I've got 2 partitions (2 virtual disks) configured and formated. Maybe I was on the right way the whole time, but the format64 syntax was not correct. Everywhere I found:

format64 dh0 AROS FFS QUICK

But the right syntax is:

format64 drive dh0: name AROS FFS QUICK

I found this on the following page:http://reziztanzia.free.fr/aros/Doc/aros-grub.html

And I have to agree with DFergATL. I'm really not happy about this way. The HDToolBox has several issues (not written changes etc., resizing did never work in my tests) and it would be cool to have some kind of 'easy way' options there, like: "Create new bootable AROS partition on ide channel <x>, size <y>".
And if it is neccesary, that InstallAROS has to reboot the machine and after reboot the options have to be altered, there should be some hints to the user. At the end I did not use InstallAROS at all. I think InstallAROS could be much more user friendly, even if there may be some dependencies in other AROS core components to be changed to make everything easier. I did not watch the videos, but why not writing it down, make some help bubbles, whatever?

T.

PS: another issue was 'hanging' after partitioning and restart of the VM. 'reboot' in Shell solved this problem, it did never hang anymore.

@Kal.

I understand, really I do... But I am still bummed. Personally I think that the installing of Aros is important. More and more casual "users" are wanting to install it but can't or won't bother because of the issues surounding the install process.

I am not sure what or even if there is anything the "community" can do to help this along.

Does an other bounty, more specifly written to address the issues, need to be done?

Hi Kal, has this something to do with Bounty #6?

Yes and no - the changes needed arent in the bounty - however some of the bounty goals are not quite impossible, but not particularly feasable without the changes.

If yes, Deadline was 2004-06-15 (if the bounty page is maintained), but it's not done yet - or is there a new deadline? If there is a new one, what is it? If there is no new deadline, why is this bounty still assigned to 'Nic A.'? Please don't missunderstand, I don't want to provoke anyone, these are just questions.

Damocles is aware of the issues and understands the problems. Until certain other more pertinant changes happen - its on hold i guess .. however if any feels they can complete the objectives they are more than welcome to take over.

Maybe a donor would help more than this?

possibly - though i doubt it - i never intended to originaly take the bounty anyhow. Most of the changes that where made to InstallAROS where for my personal interest only - however i was pursuaded to take the bounty since id basically done the main parts (bar partitioning and grub detecting os's)

Sadly its too much work for just me right now since there needs to be changes in how aros itself behaves during boot.

Once a few other things have been fixed up I will finish writing the needed partitioning tools but right now you sadly have to rely on HDToolbox.
