Update: I could fix the problem here for my GeForce Fx5700 by doing some syncing with those latest XFree86 nv sources So those who have cvs access to AROS sources can try if it works for them too by doing a "cvs -z3 update ." and recompile. The others will have to wait for snapshot of tomorrow.

I think the problem is connected with the multiple outputs of gfx cards (analog vga, digital flat panel, tv out).

The driver worked fine here with a Geforce2 MX 400. But it did not work anymore when I switched to a Geforce FX5700 (which besides was not listed in the source's array for the supported PCI product ids, so I had to insert it myself) -> famous refresh rate problem.

The thing is tough, that if I connect a monitor to the 2nd output (digital flat panel with adapter to analog vga, as I have no digital LCD monitor) then there the display is partly working. The horiz/vertical refresh rates seem to be okay. Only thing is that only one fourth of the display is visible starting 3/4 down the monitor area. And shifted half to the right (with the obvious wrap around to the left). Also the mouse sprite is not "working".

BTW: nvidia driver is based on XFree86 nv driver source. To get that source use cvs access as described on XFree site and download the nv sources (and only those, not the whole huge XFree thing) using:

cvs -z3 checkout xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/nv

Once Michal (he did the porting) is back from summer vacation, I'll point him this way to this thread as a reminder to him about the issue.

Well - I don't really mind it. I can still run it in non-nVidia mode. I was just wondering what kind of EVIL refresh rates my monitor can't handle...

BTW - the problem stays in today's snapshot.

Don't know if this has been fixed, but sometime ago I've tried booting AROS with native nVidia driver. I have a huge Hitachi multisync monitor that does 50Hz to 150Hz in 1024x768, but alas running AROS produced "refresh rate out of range" message. What kind of DEVLISH refresh rate is nVidia driver using?!
