I think it's the NeoMagic that is causing issues. I have basically the same problem on my Dell CP 233. :\

I have an old dell latitude xp 450c
It seems to get further in the boot but then gets caught up in a endless loop... Oh well... at 50Mhz.... I'm not real inspired to install a standard Linux on it.... running basiclinux but ther is not much room for anything more and haven't been able to get AROS running hosted on it yet... as running from a hardfile enlarged to 30 meg is still not enough room to add the glibc2 runtime files and AROS...

First of all: thank you mendoza for answering my site related questions ;)
Ok, here's my problem: I've downloaded the Aros native and burned it on cd. I tried to boot it on my Acer Extensa 367t laptop, and the screen only shows GRUB and just sits there doing nothing. I've browsed this site, and tried according to the several tips to disable USB, harddrive, heck, I even tried an hardware hack on a spare harddrive to see if it works (connect pin 28&30 on a 2.5" 44 pin IDE harddrive to solve some issues regarding to master/slave and or booting) However, nothing seems to work. I mananged to find a servicemanual to this laptop, so I'll give a list of the hardware config: CPU: Intel Pentium (Tillamook 200) Sytem memory: 16mb onboard, 16mb SODIMM expansion Video: NeoMagic NM2097 CDROM: Teac-20x (thats all I can find) ALi chipset M1531,M1533 Super I/O NS97338 I have the complete Memory,interrupt,dma and I/O adress/channel map available if that's any help. FYI I just installed Debian 3.0r2 on it and it runs fine. Update: Just installed Aros Host Linux When started she gives me the following output: debian:~/AROS-20040320-i386-linux-system#./aros List chip memory: Attr=00000703 from 0x40221030 to 0x40a21008 Free=8343360 Chunk 4022c0c8 Size 8343360 List rom memory: Attr=00000400 from 0x0804a7c0 to 0x080e8e0c Free=0 Segmentation fault Both with console mode started & X Windows running |
